James had a long career in the investment management industry working in investment trusts and in hedge funds as an analyst and research director.

He worked for Alliance Trust, Barclays Global Investors and BlackRock. In 2014 he launched his own startup, which was in the tech-enabled logistics space -  and raised equity finance a number of times before selling the brand in 2022.

He now advises other startups, in particular helping firms prepare for raising investment:  financial modelling, business planning, strategic advice and pitch decks but also with making connections to investors.
